Dissociative Effects and Response to Ketamine in Youth With Treatment-Resistant Depression
September 19, 2023 DOI: 10.64239/pi-capst1504
Summary
Ketamine's dissociative symptoms do not relate to treatment response in adolescents. In contrast, adolescents treated with midazolam experienced less improvement in depression when they exhibited higher depersonalization symptoms within 24 hours. Additionally, tricyclic antidepressants are found to be more effective in adults compared to children and adolescents.

Abstract
No association was found between ketamine's dissociative symptoms and treatment response in adolescents. Adolescents receiving midazolam showed less depression improvement with higher depersonalization symptoms in 24 hours. Tricyclic antidepressants are more effective in adults than in children and adolescents.
