Abstract
Since excessive stress can impair both mental and physical functioning, stress management is essential for achieving peak athletic performance. Yoga, a mind-body practice with roots in ancient Indian philosophy, combines meditation, breath control (pranayama), and physical postures (asanas). This essay investigates how yoga helps people cope with stress and how it affects their ability to compete in sports. We analyze how yoga affects physiological and psychological stress responses, improves attention and recuperation, and leads to better athletic results, all while drawing on empirical research and theoretical understanding. We come to the conclusion that yoga is a beneficial supplemental activity for athletes looking to improve their overall performance.
