Illusions - a model of mind
arXiv Preprint Archive July 28, 2017
Summary
Our brains create a seamless experience of reality, yet this perception is largely an illusion. New research in neurological cognition (q-bio.NC) reveals how consciousness emerges from passive mental processes, challenging our intuitive understanding of free will. By modeling perception and behavior patterns, scientists demonstrated that our sense of active decision-making is actually a post-event narrative created by our minds.
Abstract
Recognizing that all mental processes have to be unfree and passive, we develop a model of behavior and perceptions. We shall see how misleading our intuition is and shall understand how consciousness arises.
