Cannabis use in Adolescence and Risk of Psychosis: Are there Factors that Moderate this Relationship? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Adolescent cannabis use is associated with a 71% increased risk for psychosis later in life and predicts earlier onset of psychosis. Factors that moderate this relationship include age of onset of cannabis use, frequent use, exposure to childhood trauma, concurrent use of other substances, and genetic factors. The review included 63 studies in a narrative synthesis and 18 studies in a meta-analysis.
