Among cardiac rehabilitation patients with mild depression or anxiety, adding a weekly 16-minute guided group meditation for six weeks, plus daily self-guided practice, is feasible and acceptable. In a randomized trial with 31 participants, 83% of the meditation group completed an average of 3.13 group sessions and 5.28 self-guided sessions. Patients, clinicians, and health managers found the meditation acceptable. Per-protocol analyses indicated that the meditation group attended more cardiac rehabilitation sessions (12 vs 9 sessions), suggesting meditation may improve adherence to exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation.
