Cancer Research January 16, 2024 Kelsey Klute, Lou Lukas, Soonjo Hwang et al. 2 citations

Patients with advanced pancreatic cancer experience high rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidality. This pilot study will test whether psilocybin-assisted therapy, integrated into routine outpatient palliative care, is feasible and safe for these patients. Twelve adults with advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma who are receiving chemotherapy will receive a 25 mg capsule of psilocybin after preparation sessions, followed by integration sessions. The study will measure changes in psychological distress, quality of life, and brain activity using fMRI. Enrollment began in June 2023, with two subjects enrolled so far.
