Effects of Psilocybin on Religious and Spiritual Attitudes and Behaviors in Clergy from Various Major World Religions, by Griffiths et al.

A single-dose psilocybin session, supported by spiritual preparation and follow-up, produced lasting increases in religious and spiritual attitudes and behaviors among clergy from various major world religions. Participants reported greater personal religious and spiritual practices, such as prayer and meditation, and more positive attitudes toward their own and others' faith traditions. These effects were sustained at 6-month follow-up. The study suggests that psilocybin can enhance religious and spiritual engagement in religious professionals, without diminishing their commitment to their own traditions.
