Psychometric validation of the Dutch translations of the Psychological Insight Questionnaire, the Psychological Insight Scale, and the Emotional Breakthrough Inventory

Dutch translations of three questionnaires designed to assess subjective effects of psychedelic experiences—the Psychological Insight Questionnaire (PIQ-NL), the Emotional Breakthrough Inventory (EBI-NL), and the Psychological Insight Scale (PIS-NL)—showed good internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and criterion validity in a cross-sectional Internet survey of 347 participants. The EBI-NL and PIS-NL had unidimensional factor structures, while the PIQ-NL had several viable factor structures. All three predicted changes in life satisfaction better than the Dutch Mystical Experiences Questionnaire, though the EBI-NL did not add unique predictive power beyond the other two. Subscale scores for the PIQ-NL should not be reported due to limited subscale reliability, and further investigation of construct validity is needed.
