Dynamic VR Modulation with EEG Feedback for Psychedelic Simulation

Combining real-time EEG with virtual reality can generate synthetic psychedelic experiences. A passive brain-computer interface dynamically adjusts virtual content to elicit neurocognitive states similar to those of psychedelic trips, including reduced self-referential thought and diminished default mode network engagement. Preliminary results indicate that personalized VR experiences modulate cortical activities and produce unique altered states of consciousness. The approach aims to replicate the cognitive and emotional benefits of psychedelic agents without their risks.

Bridging Psychedelic VR and BCI: Enhancing User Experience through Adaptive EEG-Guided Neural Modulation

Virtual reality and psychedelic experiences share notable similarities, both capable of altering perception and evoking deep emotional responses. This proof-of-concept study explores combining VR with simulated psychedelic experiences using brain-computer interface systems that leverage real-time EEG feedback to dynamically adjust VR content and target the brain's default mode network. The goal is to replicate the cognitive and emotional benefits of psychedelics without their risks. Initial findings suggest adaptive VR can provide tailored experiences that promote unique altered states of consciousness, potentially leading to novel therapeutic interventions and improved human-computer interaction.
