Temporal Explorations in Cosmic Consciousness: Intra-Agential Entanglements and the Neuro-Image

November 25, 2015 P. Pisters

Contemporary cinema has moved beyond Deleuze's movement-image and time-image into a new aesthetic mode called the neuro-image, where audiences experience brain worlds directly from within mental landscapes rather than following characters' actions or seeing the world through their eyes. This essay investigates how these brain worlds aesthetically express an embodied and embedded brain, addressing new materialist dimensions of the neuro-image through cosmic cinema and, following Karen Barad, 'meeting the universe halfway.'
