Sexually and gender diverse (SGD) populations face higher rates and severity of PTSD than the general population, partly due to minority stress from stigma and discrimination. Standard PTSD medications often fail. MDMA-assisted psychotherapy (MDMA-AP) is being studied as a new PTSD treatment but has not yet focused on SGD groups. This article discusses how future clinical trials should be designed and implemented to study MDMA-AP specifically for SGD people with PTSD.
