A systematic review and meta-analysis combining data from 29 studies found that mindfulness-based interventions improve mental health and well-being among intensive care unit nurses. In the medium term (3–6 months), the interventions significantly reduced anxiety (mean difference: -10.80) and depression (mean difference: -12.02). Immediate-term benefits appeared for well-being, resilience, and death anxiety. Short-term effects included improvements in well-being, sleep quality, and stress reduction. The interventions also reduced burnout in the immediate term. The evidence suggests mindfulness programs are a valuable tool for enhancing psychosocial and occupational outcomes in this population.
