Group and individual mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (MBCT) both improved happiness in postmenopausal women with low baseline happiness. In a randomized trial of 48 women aged 50–64 years who were 1–10 years past menopause, total happiness scores increased significantly in both groups immediately after and one month after the intervention. The group counseling group's scores rose from 33.39 before to 48.91 after and 48 at follow-up; the individual counseling group's scores rose from 32.13 to 46.04 and 45.13. No significant difference was found between the two delivery methods, suggesting either approach can be used to boost happiness.
