Mindfulness-based stress reduction training, added to routine care, reduces negative emotions and improves sleep, social functioning, and quality of life in patients with laryngeal cancer after surgery. In a study of 65 patients, those who received the training showed lower scores on anxiety and depression scales, better sleep quality, less social disability, and higher quality-of-life scores after eight weeks compared to before the intervention. The control group, receiving only routine care, also improved but the mindfulness group showed greater benefits. The findings suggest that mindfulness training is a useful clinical addition for post-operative laryngeal cancer patients.
