Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Postpartum Depression: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Iranian journal of public health December 1, 2023 Miaoxiong Yang, Baozhi Song, Yatao Jiang et al. 11 citations

A meta-analysis of 12 studies found that mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) reduce depression in women with postpartum depression more than conventional care. On the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, MBIs lowered scores by an average of 3.13 points; on the Beck Depression Inventory, scores dropped by 5.89 points. The best results came from interventions lasting up to 4 weeks, with sessions of 60 minutes or less, practiced three times per week. The authors recommend 30 minutes of daily mindfulness meditation to help women adjust to new life.
