Designing a "Near-Death Experience" Reality Testing System.

Near-death experiences often involve a vivid sense of leaving the physical body. The AWARE research projects tested whether consciousness during such events is cerebral or extracerebral by placing images in CPR areas and later asking survivors about them. A new complementary system has been designed with a transmitter connected to an electroshock device and a receiver connected to a monitor. Laboratory experiments showed the system's connections were systematically organized. Unlike the AWARE projects, this system uses unfixed, dynamic images, timed movie capacity, and automatic activation, and it also records ambient sounds. After successful resuscitation, researchers will ask about those sounds, enabling more detailed study of environmental and bodily events during the phenomenon.
