A systematic review and meta-analysis of eight randomized clinical trials found that mindfulness-based training for medical students produced small improvements in mindfulness and stress immediately after the intervention, and moderate reductions in stress and improvements in psychological well-being at follow-up. Mindfulness showed a small post-intervention effect and a small effect at follow-up. Psychological well-being showed no significant difference post-intervention but a significant improvement at follow-up. Stress showed small post-intervention and moderate follow-up effects. Evidence quality ranged from high to very low across outcomes, with significant heterogeneity among studies.
