Psilocybin alters how the auditory cortex balances internally generated neural activity against incoming sound-driven signals, based on two-photon imaging of awake mice. This modulation may help explain why musical experience during psilocybin-assisted therapy predicts treatment outcomes for neuropsychiatric conditions.
