A Dual Hilbert-space Formalism for Consciousness; Memory Experiments

Advances in Image and Video Processing March 25, 2024 R. Englman, A. Yahalom 1 citation

A mathematical theory proposes that conscious states and physical neuronic states occupy identical abstract Hilbert spaces, with consciousness arising when a conscious state aligns with a neuronic state. Neuronic states change continuously through life experiences, increasing ordered, coherent states while decreasing random ones. Transitions between states are governed by the Gorini-Kossakowski-Sudarshan-Lindblad formalism, which also mediates the effect of consciousness on bodily actions. The model interprets classic findings on long- and short-term recall from Shepard (1958–2011) and Sternberg (1966–2016).
