Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Nursing Interventions on Psychological Health, Resilience, and Educational Empowerment in Gynecologic Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Journal of cancer education : the official journal of the American Association for Cancer Education November 23, 2025 Wei Lu, Jing Ding, Yujie Zhong

Mindfulness-based nursing interventions show potential for reducing psychological distress and improving quality of life in women with gynecologic cancers, though results are limited by high heterogeneity. A meta-analysis of 12 randomized controlled trials involving 1,228 participants found that these interventions tended to reduce anxiety, depression, and fatigue, but these effects were not statistically significant. Statistically significant improvements were observed in global health status and in specific quality-of-life domains, particularly role functioning and emotional functioning after bias correction. Neither age nor marital status significantly moderated the results. Integrating mindfulness-based education into oncology nursing may enhance patient empowerment and professional development.
