A case of takotsubo cardiomyopathy occurred after recreational ingestion of Psilocybe semilanceata (magic mushrooms). The patient had respiratory distress and pulmonary edema that responded to standard medical treatment. Diagnostic tests included echocardiogram, cardiac MRI, and angiogram. Based on a literature search, this appears to be only the second recognized case reported in published medical literature.
