Psychedelic Drugs: A Mind-expanding Hallucinogens
Indian Journal of Behavioural Sciences March 22, 2024 Shreyasee Das, Rahul Shil
Psychedelics are psychoactive substances that alter perception, mood, thinking, sense of time, and emotions, often causing hallucinations. These drugs have been used since ancient times, with magic mushrooms, mescaline, and DMT being common; mushrooms were eaten fresh, cooked, or in tea, sometimes with tobacco or cannabis. NBOMe forms are inactive if swallowed and are taken under the tongue, on the cheek, or snorted. Some psychedelics like psilocybin and MDMA have aided therapies for treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
