Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) shows promise for treating major depressive disorder, anxiety, and PTSD, offering faster and more durable results than conventional SSRIs, which have limited effectiveness and negative side effects. A cross-sectional online survey of psychedelic users with mental health disorders confirmed that naturalistic psychedelic use produces substantial benefits. The paper reviews the supervised use of MDMA, psilocybin, ayahuasca, and LSD combined with talk therapy, highlighting PAP as a new tool for psychiatry.
