Ayahuasca: significados entre la historia, la medicina y la cultura

This essay explores the meanings of the term "ayahuasca" as part of the plant names of Amazonian peoples. Despite its sociocultural attributes, the term encompasses various specializations at the lexical level, also considering the worldview of native peoples in which this plant is inscribed. The methodology was qualitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional. Different disciplinary fields were addressed in reflecting on the scope of its use and cultural meaning. Sections relate to historical, ritual, medicinal, and linguistic aspects. All of this leads to an interdisciplinary perspective that allows observing the multiple dimensions of the term, its attributes in the community, and the transformations of its meaning in different geographic spaces.
