Moral Transhumanism: The Next Step

The Journal of Medicine and Philosophy A Forum for Bioethics and Philosophy of Medicine August 1, 2012 M. N. Tennison 40 citations

Transhumanism aims to overcome human biological limits but raises ethical concerns, including worsening social inequalities and greater capacity for harm. Some thinkers propose moral enhancement to curb these risks, debating its permissibility or obligation in hypothetical terms. This paper argues that psilocybin could serve as a practical tool for moral enhancement and suggests that further research on psilocybin within moral psychology may advance moral transhumanism.
