Ibogaine: A Novel Anti-Addictive Compound

Ibogaine, a naturally occurring compound, is being studied for treating addictions to opiates, cocaine, alcohol, and nicotine, as current therapies show limited effectiveness. This paper reviews research on ibogaine's history, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, toxicology, and therapeutic effectiveness for substance use disorders.
