Ketamine Usage Effectivity on Treatment-Resistant Depression Diagnosed Patients: a Scoping Review

About 6.1% of Indonesians over 15 have depression, but only 9% receive treatment; the rest go untreated, raising the risk of treatment-resistant depression (TRD). A systematic review of prior studies found that ketamine at doses of 0.4 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg is more effective than placebo as an antidepressant in adults, and doses above 0.2 mg/kg are effective in the elderly, with maximal effects 24 hours after administration that fade by about 7 days. Repeated ketamine doses increase the likelihood that TRD patients respond to therapy and achieve remission.
