Hypnotic susceptibility and alterations in subjective experiences.

Acta biologica Hungarica January 1, 2002 I Mészáros, Cs Szabó, Rita I Csákó 3 citations

Hypnosis is described as a partial sleep, and a contemporary approach to this altered state of consciousness is discussed. Under laboratory conditions, subjective and behavioral data are analyzed after hypnotic induction, shamanic trance, and relaxation with music. The role of different cortical regions is shown after various hypnotic inductions as a function of hypnotic susceptibility. The importance of context is underlined as a key factor in the possible alteration of consciousness.
