QiST Journal of Quran and Tafseer Studies May 6, 2024 Sarwar Haidari 4 citations
The Qur'an offers a holistic view of consciousness that integrates physical and spiritual dimensions, self-awareness, perception, intentionality, and the soul's journey. By interpreting Qur'anic verses through a hermeneutic approach and drawing on Islamic theology, philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science, the paper argues that Islamic thought contributes unique insights to the global discourse on consciousness. The Qur'anic perspective emphasizes a harmonious balance between material and transcendental aspects of human existence, with implications for ethical behavior, personal identity, and the pursuit of knowledge. This interdisciplinary exploration bridges religious wisdom and contemporary scientific understanding, enriching philosophical inquiry into the nature of the mind.
