Cross-Sectional study of differences in phenomenology of acute psychosis with or without cannabis

Acute psychosis with preceding cannabis use presents a primarily polymorphic clinical picture with predominance of positive and mood symptoms, occurring in both clear and disturbed sensorium. In contrast, acute psychosis without cannabis use is characterized by mixed positive and negative symptoms in clear sensorium. Among those with cannabis use, 96.7% were male and 3.3% female; their mean age was higher (33.7 years) than the control group (27.7 years). General symptoms of psychosis were more pronounced in acute psychosis without cannabis.
