On Exploration of Subjectivity in Advaita Vedanta

The Upanisadic tradition has a long history of exploring subjectivity and the self (atman), making it relevant to contemporary consciousness studies. Ancient and classical Indian philosophers from various schools offered metaphysical, epistemological, and linguistic arguments about I-consciousness, leading to rich polemical discussions. These debates are not only philosophical but also soteriological, as understanding the self is considered essential for inquiry into ultimate reality (Brahma-jijnasa). The Vedantic literature is presented as an immensely valuable resource for modern theorists working on this topic.
