Mindfulness has been decoupled from its religious origins and appropriated in various Western contexts. Using Fircks as a starting point, the article discusses how cultural psychology should handle the historicity of such phenomena, suggesting two reminders: understanding phenomena through context-sensibility while being aware of disciplinary parochialism.
Situated psychology is a new concept that draws on traditions like ecological psychology, situated learning theory, 4E cognition, and critical psychology. It understands situatedness as involving environment, culture, relations, and context, but not merely as a framework for behavior. The article provides a theoretical outline of this perspective.
