Mindfulness on-the-go: Effects of a mindfulness meditation app on work stress and well-being.

Journal of Occupational Health Psychology May 3, 2018 Sophie Bostock, Alexandra D. Crosswell, Aric A. Prather et al. 467 citations

A smartphone-based mindfulness meditation program improved psychological well-being, reduced job strain, and lowered perceptions of workplace stress among 238 healthy employees from two large UK companies. Participants were randomly assigned to use a meditation app with 10- to 20-minute guided sessions or to a wait-list control. Over eight weeks, those in the meditation group completed an average of 17 sessions and reported significant improvements in well-being, distress, job strain, and workplace social support compared to controls. A marginally significant decrease in workday systolic blood pressure was also observed. Positive effects on well-being and job strain persisted at a 16-week follow-up.
