The effectiveness of mHealth mindfulness interventions on perinatal psychological health: a systematic review.

Mindfulness-based interventions delivered through mobile health platforms show promise for reducing stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms during pregnancy and the postpartum period. A systematic review of 15 studies, using narrative synthesis due to high heterogeneity, found that these interventions can improve perinatal psychological health. However, participant engagement was hindered by intervention complexity, user interface problems, and technical issues like app compatibility. Dropouts were often due to time constraints and technical difficulties, and users requested more varied and flexible content. Maintaining high engagement and low dropout rates remains a challenge, and future research should identify optimal formats and assess long-term impacts.
