Clinical analysis of dexmedetomidine-esketamine combined with intranasal administration before laparoscopic high ligation of hernia sac in infants and young children.

In 90 children aged 8–14 years undergoing laparoscopic high ligation of hernia sacs, those given intranasal dexmedetomidine combined with esketamine had faster sedation onset, longer sedation duration, and higher Ramsay sedation scores compared with those given midazolam. The combination also resulted in lower Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scores after sedation, and Ramsay and MoCA scores were positively correlated. The authors conclude that this sedation technique is effective and safe, improves sedation, reduces adverse reactions, and does not impair cognitive function.
