Chamanismo y etnoturismo: la venta de rituales de ayahuasca y la compra de sentidos en el Alto Napo.

The Napo Runa ethnic group has a history of absorbing outside influences and possesses a rich body of ethnomedical knowledge. Over time, successive encounters have shaped external perceptions of them. One contemporary encounter involves the sale of ayahuasca rituals by shamans and their families to ethno-tourists. This generates internal tensions around power dynamics within the shaman's family and community, and external tensions from cultural distances that lead to questioning and borrowing of symbolic codes by both Napo Runa and tourists. The work examines shamanism as a dynamic system that sustains the group, operating through a gift economy, and analyzes how the sale of rituals drives cultural reproduction strategies in response to foreign influence.
