Ayahuasca e religiosidade

Drawing on the authors' own membership in a group that uses ayahuasca religiously, an autoethnographic narrative interprets perceptions, meanings, and lived experiences. The text first examines bibliographic records on spiritual practices associated with the drink, from its origins among Indigenous Amazonian peoples to its spread in urban settings through ayahuasca churches and contemporary independent groups. Emphasis is placed on a sensitive, subjective description of ceremonies, understood as central to the group's existence and to members' individual experiences, revealing the richness of their constituent elements and the dynamics that give them meaning.
