Salvia divinorum is one of the most singular entheogenic plants on the planet. Endemic to the Sierra de Oaxaca, Mexico, it has been traditionally used by various indigenous cultures in complex magical, divinatory, and healing rituals. Over the last three decades, it emerged in Mexican and global markets as highly concentrated smoking extracts that provide a potent psychedelic experience. Consequently, it began to be sold as a "recreational drug" without knowledge of its traditional uses, which not only discredited its therapeutic, social, and knowledge possibilities but also led to its prohibition in many countries worldwide.
