Health care practitioners in South Africa who participated in a four-week online mindfulness-based intervention during the first wave of COVID-19 reported shifts from operating on autopilot and feeling overwhelmed toward using faith to cope and attaining a sense of self-compassion. Using PhotoVoice, participants shared visual representations of their experiences, describing feeling calmer, more competent, and more compassionate by the end of the intervention. The findings suggest that even a brief online mindfulness program can help practitioners reappraise pandemic-related stressors and enhance well-being.
