Holistic Psychology: A New Paradigm for Integrating Consciousness, Culture, and Ecology in the Human Sciences

Wah Academia Journal of Health and Nutrition December 29, 2025 Dr Anoop Poomadam

Psychology has become fragmented into subfields that each study a separate part of experience, leaving the whole person conceptually divided. Holistic Psychology proposes a unified science based on the principle that reality is relational and awareness is a fundamental property of life. It integrates consciousness, culture, and ecology within one ontological framework, drawing on phenomenology, systems theory, process philosophy, and Asian contemplative psychologies. Three axioms—indivisibility of the person, interdependence as universal law, and analysis as servant of synthesis—redefine knowledge and care. The framework links neuroscience, ecological psychology, and cultural studies with contemplative insight to study well-being as harmony, not mere adjustment, inaugurating a scientific humanism for the twenty-first century.
