In 2014, over 17 million Americans aged 12 or older reported using MDMA at least once in their lifetime, up from 11 million a decade earlier. In Europe, 13.5 million people aged 15–64 have used the drug at some point. These figures come from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health and the European Centre for Drugs and Drug Addictions, indicating widespread use of the recreational drug.
