Psychological assistance to patients with near-death experience (based on foreign research)

Национальный психологический журнал November 19, 2018 Olga V. Gordeeva

Near-death experience (NDE) is an altered state of consciousness occurring when a person is near death, characterized by elements such as out-of-body experience, moving through a dark tunnel, seeing bright light, meeting deceased persons, and a panoramic life review. Because NDEs are increasingly common due to advances in resuscitation, survivors often face psychological problems yet fear disclosing their experiences to medical staff or family due to potential misinterpretation as mental illness. This theoretical review analyzed Western medical, psychological, and psychotherapeutic literature on treating and supporting NDE survivors and their families.
