The Nature of Mystical Experience from Various Philosophical Perspectives
Collectanea Theologica August 31, 2025 Mirosław Kiwka
Mystical experience, an experiential dimension of religious life, requires deeper philosophical and theological reflection. This paper analyzes the views of five Polish philosophers—Mieczysław Gogacz, Piotr Moskal, Jan A. Kłoczowski, Stanisław Judycki, and Leszek Kołakowski—who examined the nature of mystical experience, its ontic and epistemic conditions, and its characteristic structural elements. The analysis also addresses the context of religious life where such experiences typically occur and explores fundamental concepts of mysticism as both practice and doctrine.
