Sensitive determination of alpha-methyltryptamine (AMT) and 5-methoxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine (5MeO-DIPT) in whole blood and urine using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

A sensitive method using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was developed to measure alpha-methyltryptamine (AMT) and 5-methoxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine (5MeO-DIPT) in whole blood and urine. The drugs were extracted with an Extrelut column and an internal standard, then derivatized with acetic anhydride. Calibration curves were linear from 10 to 750 ng/ml in both blood and urine. The method detection limit was 1 ng/ml for each drug in whole blood and 5 ng/ml in urine. This approach accurately detects these drugs in clinical and forensic samples.
