Journal of nursing scholarship : an official publication of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing July 1, 2025 Shaimaa Mohamed Amin, Heba Emad El-Gazar, Mohamed Ali Zoromba et al. 15 citations

A randomized controlled trial with 120 menopausal women in Egypt found that seven sessions of a mindfulness-based intervention significantly improved menopause-specific quality of life across vasomotor, psychosocial, physical, and sexual domains, with large effect sizes. The intervention also substantially reduced anxiety, stress, and depression, and increased mindfulness, compared to a control group receiving general health education. These results suggest mindfulness-based programs can effectively alleviate menopausal symptoms and enhance psychological well-being.

Mindful walking improved vitality, mindfulness, and rumination in older adults with depressive disorders, with the largest effect on vitality. The intervention had a smaller effect on agility. A quasi-experimental study with 35 participants in the intervention group and 33 in the control group measured outcomes using the Ruminative Responses Scale, Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, Timed Up and Go Test, and Subjective Vitality Scale. Effect sizes were η² = 0.168 for vitality, 0.137 for mindfulness, 0.127 for rumination, and 0.047 for agility. Integrating mindful walking into care plans may promote physical activity and mental well-being in this population.
