Ayahuasca, known as daime in Brazil, is regarded by its religious users as a legitimate source of knowledge. Drawing on postcolonial critiques of the monopoly of Western science, this work recognizes multiple ways of producing knowledge. Based on interviews with daimistas in Florianópolis, Brazil, the study explores how these practitioners perceive daime as a means of gaining insight and understanding, contributing to a broader discussion about alternative forms of knowledge.
