The subjective well-being of ayahuasca adherents is examined through the concepts of quality of life and subjective well-being. A qualitative study with four participants, combining bibliographic review and field data, identifies that subjective well-being arises from categories including development of self-knowledge, prevention of drug use/abuse, greater self-mastery and environmental control, and improved social relationships. The article argues for the scientific relevance of studying this contemporary topic to enrich understanding of new processes of subjectivation, sociocultural phenomena, and territories interfacing with psychology.
