Effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions on burnout, resilience and sleep quality among nurses: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

BMC Nurs July 1, 2025 Jin Dou, Yujia Lian, Lili Lin et al. 21 citations

A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that mindfulness-based interventions improve burnout, resilience, and sleep quality among nurses. The interventions led to reductions in emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and increases in personal accomplishment and resilience, with moderate to large effect sizes. Improvements in sleep quality were also observed. The evidence suggests that these programs can be effective tools for supporting nurse well-being, though the authors note that further high-quality research is needed to strengthen confidence in the findings.
