Enhancing flow can significantly boost performance in sports, as shown by a study involving 40 participants. After a single 30-minute session of frontal-midline theta neurofeedback training, those who successfully increased their theta activity (responders) reported improved motor performance and heightened flow experiences compared to non-responders. Notably, a correlation emerged between increased theta activity and enhanced motor performance, alongside a rise in flow experiences, independent of performance gains. While results for cognitive tasks showed no significant changes, theta neurofeedback appears promising for improving flow and performance.
