MDMA induced hyperthermia: a survivor with an initial body temperature of 42.9 degrees C.

Emergency Medicine Journal September 1, 1997 A. Mallick, Andrew Bodenham 59 citations

A young man survived a body temperature of 42.9 °C after taking MDMA (Ecstasy). He experienced seizures, muscle breakdown, metabolic acidosis, and respiratory failure. Treatment with assisted breathing, aggressive fluids, early dantrolene, and cooling measures led to recovery. This is the first report of a survivor with such severe hyperthermia from MDMA.
